Communications Training Battalion, Marine Corps Communication-Electronics School, held a Sunset Run starting at the MCCES barracks aboard the Combat Center, June 15, 2016.

Every quarter, CTB hosts a battalion-wide physical training event such as a 9-mile hike or fun run. The battalion accepted donations during the run, half of which will be given to the Wounded Warrior Regiment and the rest for the MCCES Marine Corps Ball. The run also served as a last salute to Lt. Col. Koumparakis, battalion commander, CTB, as he prepares to relinquish command of the unit.

“It’s [the battalion’s commander’s] last fun run with the Marines,” said Master Gunnery Sgt. Carl R. Bisson, communications chief, CTB. “CTB, as a unit, appreciates Lt. Col. Koumparakis and we just want to thank him for all he’s done.”

Koumparakis served as the battalion’s first commander since its activation in March, 2015. The battalion’s change of command is scheduled for June 21.
