A biologist with Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs, conducts a health assessment during the Desert Tortoise translocation, April 10, 2017, which was facilitated by the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif. The translocation, in accordance with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service-signed Biological Opinion, serves as a negotiated mitigation to support the mandated land expansion which will afford the Combat Center the ability to conduct Large Scale Exercise training featuring up to a Marine Expeditionary Brigade-level force.
