MASTER GUNNERY SERGEANT Jamie P. Myers

Master Gunnery Sergeant Jamie P. Myers currently serves as the Maneuver Division Chief for Marine Corps Operations Training Group (MCTOG). 

In April of 1992 Master Gunnery Sergeant Myers shipped for recruit training at MCRD San Diego, California. Upon graduation, Private First Class Myers attended the school of Infantry in Camp Pendleton, California in which he completed Marine Combat training and Infantry Riflemen Training at MCT and ITB. 
 
After completing the School of Infantry, Private First Class Myers reported 3rd Battalion 9th Marines on 9 November 1992.  In December 1992, Private First Class Myers deployed to Mogadishu, Somalia for Operation Restore Hope as a SAW Gunner for 2nd Platoon India Company. Private First Class Myers was promoted to Lance Corporal on 1 January 1993.   Lance Corporal Myers deployed again in August of 1993 and August 1995 for the Unit Deployment Program (UDP) to Okinawa, Japan.  Upon returning from Okinawa, Lance Corporal Myers was part of the squad that won the Battalion Super Squad competition in April 1994. 

3rd Bn 9th Marines re-designated as 3rd Bn 4th Marines in September 1994 where Lance Corporal Myers conducted a Joint Task Force-6 (JTF-6) mission with the Border Patrol and Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) in Deming New Mexico.   In February 1995 Lance Corporal Myers won a meritorious promotion board and was promoted to Corporal on 2 March 1995.  In August 1995 Corporal Myers deployed to Okinawa, Japan for another UDP.    Following this deployment in the spring of 1996, Corporal Myers participated in Operation Sea Dragon, and conducted another JTF-6 mission, this time in the San Bernardino Mountains.

On 1 November of 1996 Corporal Myers was promoted to Sergeant and given orders to Marine Aircraft Group-16, Tustin Ca, for duty as a Ground Training NCO.  In April 1999 Sergeant Myers was part of the Fleet Assistance Program (FAP) at the San Mateo Rifle Range used by all rifle shooters from the 3d Marine Air Wing.

On 1 August 2000, Sergeant Myers reported to Alpha Company 1st Battalion 1st Marines for duty as 1st Squad Leader 1st Platoon.  Sergeant Myers deployed with the 15th MEU to Afghanistan and later the 13th MEU to Basra Iraq.  During the 13th MEU deployment Sgt Myers was promoted to SSgt in December 2003.

In July 2004 SSgt Myers was selected to a special duty assignment as a combat instructor at the School of Infantry-West.  There he performed duties a Platoon Commander and company Gunny for Bravo Company Infantry Training Battalion (ITB).  From September 2005 – June 2007 SSgt Myers was transferred to Advanced Infantry Training Battalion (AITB) to operate as a Squad instructor and Chief Instructor for Infantry Squad Leaders Course (ISLC) where he was meritoriously promoted to Gunnery Sergeant on 2 July, 2006.  In June 2007 Gunnery Sergeant Myers PCSd to 2d Battalion 3d Marines in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. 

GySgt Myers deployed to Karmah Iraq from March-Sept 2008 as Wpns Platoon Sergeant, Echo Company 2d Bn 3d Marines.  In October 2008 GySgt Myers transferred to Fox Company 2d Bn 3d Marines as the Fox Company Gunny where he deployed to Deleram, Afghanistan from April-November 2009 in support of OEF.  Upon return from OEF, GySgt Myers was selected to the rank of Master Sergeant and received orders back to the School of Infantry.

From August 2010 - July 2013 MSgt Myers performed duties as the Marine Combat Training Battalion Chief Instructor at SOI-W.  In October, 2013 MSgt Myers reported for temporary duty to MEB-A where he deployed in January to Camp Leatherneck Afghanistan as the MEB Training Chief.  In July 2014 MSgt Myers redeployed back to Camp Pendleton where he received orders to G-3, 1st Marine Division. 

MSgt Myers reported to 3d Battalion 5th Marines Battalion as the Operations Chief in March 2015 and deployed with the Unit Deployment Program to Okinawa where he was selected to his current rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant.   Upon return from UDP in April 2016, Master Gunnery Sergeant Myers conducted the next work up as BLT 3/5 for the 31st MEU and was the experimental Battalion for the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab (MCWL).  They deployed in May and returned in November 2017.  On February 2d, 2018 MGySgt Myers reported to his serve as the Maneuver Division Course Chief for Marine Corps Ground Operations Tactics Course, and on 8 July, 2019 was designated as the Senior Enlisted Advisor
 
Master Gunnery Sergeant Myers’ personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with 3 gold stars), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (with one gold star) and the Combat Action Ribbon with one gold star in lieu of second award.
