JOHNSON VALLEY SHARED USE AREA TEMPORARILY CLOSED

The Johnson Valley Shared Use Area is currently closed to the public to support essential military training operations and will resume public access on Feb. 25, 2025. Please note all scheduled closures of the Johnson Valley Shared Use Area below:

- Feb. 13 - 24, 2025
- Aug. 14 - 25, 2025
- Feb. 12 - 26, 2026
- Aug. 13 - 27, 2026

Closure periods include the time required to ensure the Johnson Valley Shared Use Area is clear of recreation activity prior to military training and to inspect and confirm the land is safe for public access before reopening. The adjacent Johnson Valley OHV Recreation Area remains open to the public for recreation during closures of the Shared Use Area. Recreationists are also encouraged to explore other nearby off-roading areas including Stoddard Valley OHV Area and Ocotillo Wells State Vehicle Recreation Area when the Johnson Valley Shared Use Area is closed.

As a reminder, the Combat Center conducts live-fire training year-round. Visitors are reminded to exercise caution and respect base boundaries whenever engaging in recreational activities in the surrounding area.
