JOHNSON VALLEY REOPENS TO PUBLIC FOLLOWING MARINE CORPS TRAINING

As of February 26, 2026, the Johnson Valley Shared Use Area has been thoroughly inspected and returned to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for public use and recreation following a recent Marine Corps training exercise.

The Marine Corps greatly appreciates the community’s support during this closure. Military training in Johnson Valley is a vital component in maintaining national defense by providing progressive, service-level training that best prepares Marines for combat operations worldwide.

To assist the public with long-range planning, future scheduled temporary closures are below:

  • August 13 – 27, 2026
  • February 12 – 24, 2027
  • August 13 – 26, 2027
