REMINDER: JOHNSON VALLEY SHARED USE AREA CLOSURE DATES FOR 2026
14 May 2026

As part of our ongoing commitment to public awareness, the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center is reminding the public of the previously scheduled temporary closure of the Johnson Valley Shared Use Area from August 13-27, 2026. This closure ensures the safety of the public and military personnel during essential, large-scale training exercises.

The adjacent Johnson Valley Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Recreation Area remains open to the public during temporary closures of the Shared Use Area. Recreationists are advised to respect all posted boundaries for their safety. A map of the area is available at www.29palms.marines.mil/johnsonvalley/. Alternative nearby locations for off-highway recreation include the Stoddard Valley OHV Area and Ocotillo Wells State Vehicle Recreation Area.

To help the public plan for recreation in Johnson Valley, the Combat Center regularly publishes closure schedules at least 12 months in advance. Additional upcoming scheduled closures include:

• February 12 - 24, 2027
• August 13 - 26, 2027

For the most current schedules and information, or to sign up for closure updates via email, the public is encouraged to visit: www.29palms.marines.mil/johnsonvalley.
