Sergeant Major Ketcham enlisted in the Marine Corps in October 1999 and completed recruit training at MCRD San Diego.  Upon graduation of Marine Combat Training, he reported to Marine Corps Detachment, Fort Leonardwood, MO, to attend Military Police School.  Following Military Police School he reported to Military Police Company, Headquarters Battalion, First Marine Division for duty as a military policeman.  In October of 2001, he deployed to Egypt in support of Exercise Bright Star 01-02.  As a Corporal he held the billets of Squad Leader and Non-Lethal Weapons Instructor for Division Schools.  In January 2003, Sergeant Ketcham deployed to Kuwait for Operation Enduring Freedom/Iraqi Freedom.

In August 2003, Sergeant Ketcham reenlisted in the Marine Corps, and on 2 April 2004 was meritoriously promoted to Staff Sergeant.  As a Staff Sergeant he held the billets of Division Schools Non-Lethal Weapons Course SNCOIC, and Company Gunnery Sergeant for Military Police Company, Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division.

In July of 2004, Staff Sergeant Ketcham reported to Drill Instructor School, MCRD, San Diego, and was subsequently assigned to Bravo Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, where he served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, and Marine Corps Water Survival Instructor/Instructor Trainer.

In September 2007, he reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron 274, 2d Marine Air Wing for duty as a Platoon Sergeant.  In February 2008, he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 08.1, and while in Iraq was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.

In March 2009, Gunnery Sergeant Ketcham transferred to Military Police Company, 2d Marine Aircraft Wing.  While assigned to MP Company, he held the billets of Platoon Sergeant, Company Gunnery Sergeant and Company First Sergeant.  In January 2011,  he deployed to Central America and South America as part of Southern Partnership Station 2011 with Marine Wing Support Squadron 271, 2d Maring Air Wing.

In December 2011, he was frocked to First Sergeant and received orders to 2d Combat Engineer Battalion, 2d Marine Division, where he deployed to Afghanistan with Alpha Company in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 12.2.

In March 2013, he was transferred to 1st Battalion 7th Marines, where he served as the Company First Sergeant for Alpha Company and Weapons Company.  While assigned to 1st Battalion 7th Marines, he deployed to Jordan in support of the Jordanian Operational Deployment Program, and again to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve 16.1.

In August 2016, First Sergeant Ketcham reported for duty to 2d Transportation Support Battalion, Camp Lejeune NC, where he served in Alpha Company and Headquarters and Service Company.  In January 2017, he was frocked to his current rank and reported to VMAQ-3, Marine Air Group 14, for duty as the Squadron Sergeant Major where he deployed to Incirlik Air Base Turkey in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

In May 2018, after deactivating Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 3, he reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron 274 where he served until reporting for duty in September 2019 to Headquarters Battalion, MAGTFTC/MCAGCC Twentynine Palms, Ca.

Sergeant Major Ketcham’s personal awards include:  Meritorious Service Medal w/ 3 gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/ 3 gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat Distinguished Device, with 4 gold stars, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
