Colonel Brito enlisted in the Marine Corps in May 1989 and served in various maintenance management billets supporting I Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF); 1st Battalion, 11th Marines; Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS)-372; I&I Ordnance Company, 4th Force Service Support Group (FSSG); and Marine Barracks Security Forces Guantanamo Cuba where he supported operation Able Manner and Sea Angel. He received his commission in April 1998 via the Meritorious Commissioning Program and was subsequently designated a Logistics Officer in April 1999. His operational and staff assignments include:
As a company grade officer, his operational assignments were Battalion Logistics Officer, Operations Officer, and Headquarters Company Executive Officer, Headquarters and Service Battalion, 3d FSSG; Regimental Assistant Logistics Officer, Motor Transport Officer, and Maintenance Management Officer, 3d Marine Regiment, 3d Marine Division where he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF).
As a field grade officer, his operational assignments include Chief of Contingency Contracting, III MEF and 3d Marine Logistics Group where he supported humanitarian operation Caring Response Burma; Deputy of Contracting for Regional Contract Center Camp Leatherneck where he supported 2d Marine Expeditionary Brigade OEF operations; Group Logistics Officer Marine Aircraft Group 36 where he supported flood relief operations in Thailand and Typhoon Damayan Humanitarian Assistance Disaster Relief operations in the Philippines; Regimental Executive Officer and Chief of Contingency Contracting, Combat Logistics Regiment 37; and Commanding Officer MWSS-371 where he deployed in support of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force - Crisis Response – Central Command Operation Inherent Resolve.
His staff assignments include Operational Contract Support Branch Head, Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC) Installations and Logistics, Logistics Policy and Capabilities; Deputy Branch Head, Organizational Branch, HQMC, Program and Resources, Program Analysis and Evaluation Branch; Assistant Chief of Staff G-4, Marine Forces Reserve; and Marine Corps National Account Manager, Defense Logistics Agency.
He has been privileged to serve in commands that have been awarded the Presidential Unit Citation, Joint Meritorious Unit Award with Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, Navy Unit Commendation with two bronze service stars, the Meritorious Unit Commendation with one bronze service star, the Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation, and other campaign and service awards.
Colonel Brito’s education includes a Master of Science in Administration in Human Resourcesfrom Central Michigan University, a Master of Business Administration in Contract Management from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a Master of Science in National Security Strategy from the National War College. He is also a graduate of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College.
