Colonel Hillery was commissioned in May 2003 after graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy.
Colonel Hillery’s operating force assignments include: Platoon Commander and Executive Officer, Truck Company, Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division; Assistant Operations Officer, Combat Logistics Battalion 1; Operations Officer and Executive Officer, Combat Logistics Battalion 5; Logistics Officer, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit; Executive Officer, Combat Logistics Regiment 15; Executive Officer, Combat Logistics Regiment 1; Deputy G-3, 1st Marine Logistics Group; Commanding Officer, Combat Logistics Battalion 11; G-4 Operations Officer, Deputy G-4, and A/CS G-10, I Marine Expeditionary Force.
Colonel Hillery’s supporting establishment assignments include: Assistant Operations Officer, Range Company Executive Officer, and H&S Company Commander, Weapons & Field Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego; Current Operations Officer, Logistics Plans, Operations, & Strategic Mobility Division, Deputy Commandant of Installations & Logistics, Headquarters Marine Corps.
Colonel Hillery earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy; and a Master of Science in Military Studies from the Command & Staff College, Marine Corps University. He is a graduate of The Basic School; Tactical Logistics Operations Course; Joint MPF Staff Planers Course; Expeditionary Warfare School; Marine Corps Command & Staff College; Logistics & Technology Advanced Course, Institute for Defense and Business, UNC Chapel Hill; and Air War College.
Colonel Hillery’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with one silver star, the Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars, and the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
