Master Gunnery Sergeant Ian J. Jaurigue

Master Gunnery Sergeant Jaurigue is a native of Downey, California. He enlisted into the Marine Corps June 20, 2000, and attended recruit training at MCRD, San Diego, California. After earning the MOS of 0311 Rifleman, he attended MCSFTBn Basic Security Guard school in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Upon graduating BSG school in January 2001, MGySgt Jaurigue received orders to 1st FAST Company in Norfolk, Virginia. While with FAST, he deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and Yokosuka, Japan and received promotions to Lance Corporal and Corporal.

MGySgt Jaurigue received orders in June 2003 to report to 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, Company C. While with Charlie Company, 1st Platoon, he served as Team Leader and Squad Leader and deployed in support of OIF II.

In January 2005, MGySgt Jaurigue reported to the Marine Combat Instructor Course at the School of Infantry-West. While at MCIC, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned to Infantry Training Battalion, Company A, where he served as a Troop Handler, and later finished his tour as the Chief Instructor for the Instructor Group's MOUT section. While stationed at SOI-W, he was also selected to attend Infantry Unit Leaders Course.

By March 2008, MGySgt Jaurigue had received orders to 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines. In December of that year he was promoted to Staff Sergeant. He deployed twice with 2/1 in support of OIF and once in support of OEF. While with 2/1, he served in various billets ranging from Platoon Sergeant to Platoon Commander and Company Gunnery Sergeant. After returning from Afghanistan, he was accepted to attend Marine Security Guard School.

Upon graduation of MSG School, he was assigned to serve as Detachment Commander at Detachment Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in December 2012 followed by Detachment Mumbai, India in May 2013.

In December 2014, he reported to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines where he served as Platoon Sergeant with Company C until his promotion to Gunnery Sergeant. Following his promotion, he was transferred to 3D Marine Regiment, Headquarters Company where he served as the Regimental SACO and Headquarters Company, Company Gunnery Sergeant.

MGySgt Jaurigue reported to MCSFBn, Kings Bay, Georgia in August 2017 where he served as Company Gunnery Sergeant until August 2019 when he was promoted to Master Sergeant and reassigned to 1st Marine Division to serve as the G-3 Current Operations Chief. In September 2021, he executed orders to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, and was promoted to his current rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant in April 2022 as well as earning his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Brandman University (Magna Cum Laude) in June of that same year.

In July 2024, he was assigned to Marine Corps Tactics and Operations Group aboard Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, California where he currently serves as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader.

Master Gunnery Sergeant Jaurigue's personal awards include the Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars in lieu of 3rd award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star in lieu of 2nd award, and Combat Action Ribbon.
