Staff Sgt. Richar E. Near was awarded Master Instructor of the Year at the Marine Corps Communication-Electronics School. After 3 combat tours to Iraqq and Afghanistan, Near dedicated himself to teaching young Marines combat readiness at Marine Combat Training in Camp Lejuene, N.C. He later moved on to the Combat Center to teach at the MCCES. He has been teaching for six out of his 11 years in the Marine Corps (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl.
