Retired Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Buck Bedard, guest of honor, gives a speech during the Headquarters Battalion’s 239th Marine Corps Birthday Ball ceremony held at the Rio Hotel and Resort in Las Vegas, Sunday. During the ball, Marines also witnessed ceremonious events, such as, the cutting of the cake and the passing of the first piece of cake form the oldest marine present to the youngest, representing the passing of tradition from one generation of Marines to the next.
