A coyote that was trapped by Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs in the Ocotillo Heights housing area Oct. 3 stalks around a cage at the Sand Hill training area shortly before its release. As of Aug. 1, NREA natural resources specialists began an initiative to track coyotes entering the Combat Center’s residential areas foraging for food. Students and instructors from the Marine Corps Communications-Electronics School compete in a tug-of-war competition on the volleyball court of Victory Field Oct. 10 as part of the culmination of school’ annual field meet. Events included basketball and softball tournaments, a 10-k run, pull up and flex-arm-hang competitions, a Humvee push, and a tug-of-war contest. Team DuPont/SFC Smart Fuel Cell M-25 receives a first place winning prize of $1 million from Dr. William S. Rees, Jr., deputy under the Secretary of Defense for Laboratory and Basic Sciences. The award was for the 2008 Directory Defense Research and Engineering’s Wearable Power Prize competition, one that tested endurance of portable power sources for military use.
