Twentynine Palms -- Marines of Headquarters Battalion participated in physical training held by their battalion sergeant major and members of the High Intensity Tactical Training staff at Del Valle Field April 15, 2016.
Sgt. Maj. Avery Crespin, Headquarters Battalion Sergeant Major, held the PT to foster camaraderie amongst Marines in the unit as well as demonstrate the effectiveness of the HITT program.
“When Marines hear about a battalion PT they immediately think of a group run through the base,” Crespin said. “It was a nice change of pace to do something different and a great opportunity to show off what this base has to offer.”
The battalion started off together doing warm-ups and then split into three groups. Each group participated in various exercises the HITT program offers. Marines’ tested their speed and endurance in the agility course and their strength on the HITT course.
“We are here for you Marines,” said Edmundo Rangel Jr., HITT coordinator. “We are ready to work with you and make you better.”
All of the Marines took the opportunity to participate in the three types of workouts throughout the morning. Each workout consisted different stations, giving the Marines a variety of ways to challenge themselves.
“We have programs like this one ready for Marines to use,” Crespin said. “All the Marines here looking for a great way to PT by themselves or as a unit can go to HITT to continue to improve themselves.”
