Pack mules, like the ones shown here, are used by instructos of the animal packing course to carry gear and supplies in terrain where motorized vehicals would be dangerous or difficult to perate. These animals were used to assist soldiers and Marines in an animal packers training exercise at the Hawthorne Army Ammunition Depot training grounds in Hawthorne, Calif., Feb 25.
