The Honorable Mr. B. J. Penn, the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Installations and Environment, Col. Wes A. Weston, the Combat Center’s G-4 director, Gary Morrissett, the Public Works Division energy manager, and Bill Taylor, the Navy’s energy program manager, pose for a photo Oct. 21 at the U.S. Navy Memorial and Naval Heritage Center in Washington, D.C. Penn and Taylor awarded the Combat Center with the SecNav 2008 Energy and Water Management Award for the base’s commitment to reducing energy usage. Since fiscal year 2003, the Combat Center has reduced its dependency on energy by 22 percent, which is seven percent more than was expected at the fiscal year 2008 deadline.
