U.S. Marines and sailors with 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, load on to a bus and depart from the Combat Center on a seven-month deployment to Iraq Feb. 25, 2008. 3/4, also nicknamed ?Darkside? for their call sign they adopted during the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom, will be deploying to western Al Anbar Province, Iraq. They are tasked with mentoring, monitoring and training the Iraqi security forces, maintaining security and assisting the local leaders to become better governing officials for their local government.
