A U.S. Marine based at the Combat Center says his goodbyes to some of his fellow Marines with 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, who are about to depart the Combat Center on seven-month deployment to Iraq Feb. 25, 2008. 3/4, also nicknamed ?Darkside? for their call sign they adopted during the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom, will be deploying to western Al Anbar Province, Iraq. They are tasked with mentoring, monitoring and training the Iraqi security forces, maintaining security and assisting the local leaders to become better governing officials for their local government.
