Navy Lt. Robert Benowicz, the medical personnel officer in charge for Company E, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, holds his Bronze Star Medal after a ceremony at Lance Cpl. Torrey L. Gray Field here, Feb. 12. Benowicz received his bronze star because of his proactive role in ensuring the Marines and sailors of 2/7 were medically prepared before going on patrol during their deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Benowicz also helped save the life of a 10-year-old Afghanistan boy who was caught in the cross-fire of a gun fight and shot multiple times.
