MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CENTER TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. -- Marine Corps Community Services with support from Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs Division hosted their 8th annual Family Fall Festival at Del Valle Field, Oct. 23, 2015.
MCCS’ Special Events Section held the annual Family Fall Festival as a method of bringing the Combat Center community closer together. This year, approximately 2,000 people attended the festival.
“We want to give the families aboard the base more opportunities to bond,” said Celina Laserna, special events manager, MCCS. “This event also gives parents on the base a fun and safe environment for their children to play in.”
NREA donated profits made by the Quality Recycling Program in support of the festival, which included free games and playhouses for the families to enjoy as well as activities they could participate in with the purchase of tickets from MCCS. The activities included, hay rides, train rides, face painting, crafts, carnival games, and bounce houses.
“This is a fun place for anyone to come to,” said Rae Cerrigan, wife of Maj. Will Gerrigen, operations officer, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment. “All the children have a blast and we can make some memories along the way.”
Volunteers from Combat Center units and other base entities manned the various booths and games throughout the night. The many activities allowed for all in attendance to enjoy the event.
“It’s a great opportunity for all ages to come and enjoy their night,” Laserna said. “Our goal is to create a safe place for the base community to have fun and become closer to on another.”
