Marines with Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, competed in the Weapons Company Warrior Games on March 20 at the Del Valle obstacle course.

“This will help them build camaraderie and Esprit de Corps,” said 1st Lt. Todd Sturgill, platoon commander, Weapons Co., 1/7. “They’re glad to do it. It’s fun.”

The Warrior Games consisted of events that tested the Marines in three areas of skill; speed, strength and endurance. The Marines competed individually and in fire teams.

“We had individual events but we also have (Military Occupational Specialties) competing as teams too,” said Lance Cpl. Cody Hillis, machine gunner, Weapons Co., 1/7.

The Marines completed group events such as executing obstacles as a team while carrying and assembling weapons and individual events like power cleans and dead lifts.

“This helps us to build strength,” Hillis said. “Not just individually, but all together.”
