The Prepare-A-Thon is a month-long, presidential initiative, overseen by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, with the intent of encouraging the nation to become proactive and plan ahead for emergencies.

The month will conclude with National Prepare-A-Thon Day, April 30, to educate the public of the actions needed to prepare for natural disasters such as earthquakes, wildfires, and hurricanes. A Professional Military Education class will be held for senior enlisted and commissioned Marines, as well as civilian personnel, General Schedule 12 and above, at the Mameluke Officer’s Club on April 30 at 3 p.m. to improve preparedness for emergencies that may take place aboard the Combat Center.

According to the America’s Prepare-A-Thon official website, community members interested in participating can coordinate their own local preparedness event and learn how to further plan for emergencies.
