Christmas & New Year's Holiday Safety Brief
With the Christmas & New Year's holiday period just around the corner many Marines, Sailors, and Civilians are preparing to enjoy the holiday season with family and friends. The attached presentation provides recommendations for making sure that you and your family enjoy a safe Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Mold/Mildew Prevention
As we get deeper into summer, we inch closer and closer to monsoon season. In an effort to help guide our customers and the Combat Center in the right direction when it comes to reporting leaks, mold, and preventing mildew, The Safety Office, has created a Mold/ Mildew Information Pamphlet. The pamphlet provides guidance on the processes to help prevent, clean, and properly report any suspected microbial growth for those that live and operate aboard the Combat Center. For more information, please contact Ms. Brittany Holwerda at 760-830-6154.

Mold/ Mildew Prevention Measures
Bathrooms are a prime breeding ground for mold and mildew, as they tend to be warm and damp. To keep the moisture level down, leave the door open after a bath or shower, let the bathroom ventilation fan run for at least 20 minutes, pull the shower curtain closed so it can dry, and always hang up damp towels and bathmats.

Wipe down walls and surfaces after every shower to eliminate water/ organic matter build up.

Conduct weekly deep cleaning/ inspections of all areas to avoid potential growth and to discover any moisture sources.

Place a work request with PWD for any leaks you find; this will help stop and identify mold related issues you may have.

Commissary patrons are invited to celebrate the holiday season in December with "31 Days of Festive Finds." The commissary is also offering exclusive opportunities to save through the Dec. 2-15 Commissary Sales Flyer.

DoD to pilot expansion of commissary benefit to military civilian employees. The Department of Defense (DoD) will test an expansion of commissary shopping privileges for DoD civilian employees at select Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) stores located in the continental United States, for 120 days, starting Dec. 5. DoD directed DeCA to closely monitor any effects of the increased patronage on the pilot stores' operations and report those findings. The findings will assist the Department in determining the feasibility of expanding the benefit to all DoD civilians. This authorization does not include benefit access for family members of DoD civilian employees and former or retired DoD civilian employees, the purchase of tobacco or alcohol products, and Commissary Click2Go online shopping privileges.

Before Dec. 7, 1941, the day that would 'live in infamy,' the Pearl Harbor Commissary served its patrons with the benefit they needed.  In the days leading up to attack, the service members at Pearl Harbor had a full service, well-stocked commissary operated by the Navy Ships' Store Office. The price list for goods sold in the store had just been updated on Nov. 1, 1941. Today's Pearl Harbor Commissary, built on Oct. 25, 2002, has 24 checkouts and 18,700 line items.

Upcoming Holiday Hours for Twentynine Palms Commissary will be as follows:

December 24, 2024 - 0800-1600

December 25, 2024 - CLOSED
