COYOTE AWARENESS
Although coyotes are active all year, recent increases in human encounters with coyotes remind us of important steps to avoid negative encounters with coyotes.
•    Always monitor your pets when you let them outside each day, especially at dawn and dusk.
•    Do not feed your pets outdoors, and never leave your pet food outside as it attracts nuisance wildlife, including coyotes and rodents.
•    Report negative coyote encounters on base to the PMO Desk Sergeant at 760-830-6810.

SAFETY OFFICE ANNOUNCES TEEN FIRST AID, CPR/ AED CLASSES
As we enter the new year, the Safety Office will begin offering First Aid, CPR/ AED classes for interested teens 16 years or older on a quarterly basis. The classes will be split and held on two consecutive Wednesday afternoons to accommodate school release times. Attendance for both sessions is mandatory to complete the certification requirements. The first class sessions are scheduled for January 22nd and 29th from 1330-1600 in building 1523. Class sizes are limited to 12 personnel and students must register for the training. Please call (760) 830-6154 to register or for more information.

MOLD/ MILDEW PREVENTION
As we get deeper into summer, we inch closer and closer to monsoon season. In an effort to help guide our customers and the Combat Center in the right direction when it comes to reporting leaks, mold, and preventing mildew, The Safety Office, has created a Mold/ Mildew Information Pamphlet. The pamphlet provides guidance on the processes to help prevent, clean, and properly report any suspected microbial growth for those that live and operate aboard the Combat Center. For more information, please call 760-830-6154.

Mold/ Mildew Prevention Measures:
•    Bathrooms are a prime breeding ground for mold and mildew, as they tend to be warm and damp. To keep the moisture level down, leave the door open after a bath or shower, let the bathroom ventilation fan run for at least 20 minutes, pull the shower curtain closed so it can dry, and always hang up damp towels and bathmats.
•    Wipe down walls and surfaces after every shower to eliminate water/ organic matter build up.
•    Conduct weekly deep cleaning/ inspections of all areas to avoid potential growth and to discover any moisture sources.
•    Place a work request with PWD for any leaks you find; this will help stop and identify mold related issues you may have.

MONTHLY CPR AND FIRST AID TRAINING COURSE
Beginning 10 October 2024, the Safety Office will be offering a monthly CPR and First Aid Training Course. The training will take place from 0800-1530 in building 1523 N.
